The Chicago Literacy Studio promotes the cultivation of critical thinkers in a digital era that demands media and algorithmic literacy. The Curriculum is designed by Kay Kim, current Lector in the Writing Program at UChicago.

Kay Kim is a media scholar and a recent graduate from UChicago. She has been teaching English reading and writing for 7 years. Over the years as a tutor, she has noticed how literacy has been changing in the new digital media age, with the advent of scrollable social media and ChatGPT. Her academic research focuses on redefining human agency in an era of overflowing AI-generated content, especially its ethical implications on visual culture and society.
